Test knit sign-ups

Become a test knitter!

Test knitting is a vital stage in creating great knitting patterns. Test knitters try out the pattern before it's published to make sure that all the instructions are present and clear, and provide feedback on sizing and yarn usage for the project.

It's really helpful to have a range of experience levels test patterns. What I need from testers:

  • knit to the specified gauge
  • work from a pattern in Google Docs that's still being tweaked and may be edited when you're part-way through knitting, and add comments for any queries you may have
  • create a project on Ravelry including photos of your finished item
  • work to the given deadline for the test knit.

You get early access to the pattern before it's published, and, in return, you receive a free download of the finished pattern and an additional pattern of your choice from my Ravelry Store.

The Scrumper Cardigan is a celebration of textural details and a classic silhouette that’s perfect for layering up. With a v-neck, straight body and choice of lengths and button placement (left or right), it’s a versatile piece that can suit a variety of styles. The cardi has moss stitch edging flanked by columns of simple cables that run up the sides and front opening, and flow around the armholes and neck, and down the underside of the sleeves.

The cardigan is knitted bottom-up, with the buttonband worked at the same time as the body. Fronts and back are separated at the underarm, with armhole and neck shaping. The shoulders are seamed with a three-needle bind-off, and extensions of the buttonband are knitted and stitched down round the back neck. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves and worked with decreasing short rows from the top down, before tapering to the wrist where the cuff finishes with moss stitch.
